Lib Dem MEP Fiona Hall has signed up to support Durham's bid to become the UK's first City of Culture in 2013.

Said Fiona:

"Winning the City of Culture title would bring an invaluable boost not just to Durham City but to the entire North East region. With its world-class heritage and vibrant cultural events calendar, the city offers a distinct and interesting identity. As the official City of Culture, Durham would be able to attract even more visitors and put together a truly outstanding programme of cultural activities from which the whole region would benefit.

"This is why I fully support Durham's bid to become the UK's first City of Culture."

The winner of the City of Culture title will host many of the UK's top cultural events, including the Turner Prize and the Brits Awards in 2013.
