ANGRY ABOUT NUCLEAR? PASS IT ON.

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 26th Jun 2006

Fiona Hall, Euro MP for the North East is urging local people to pass on the anti nuclear message.

Fiona, who sits on the Commitee for Industry, Energy and Research in the European Parliament has warned that a new generation of nuclear power stations will cost taxpayers and consumers tens of billions of pounds.

The Liberal Democrat said:

"There is no need to waste money on nuclear power. We need to invest in a decentralised energy system and get serious about renewables and energy efficiency.

"New nuclear power, in addition to posing safety and environmental risks, will only be possible with vast taxpayer subsidies or a rigged market.

"The Liberal Democrats have produced an e-card that people can use to pass on the anti-nuclear message to their friends and family. Sending on this message will indicate a stern reminder to Tony Blair of the opposition to nuclear power."
