MARKING THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE IRAQ WAR

12.00.00am GMT Tue 20th Mar 2007

Fiona spoke at a Stop the War meeting in Newcastle on Saturday has today urged that lessons be learnt from the disaster of the war in Iraq. Marking the fourth anniversary of the start of the Iraq invasion, she said:

"There must be no question of Britain supporting the US over any military action, actual or threatened, against Iran.

"This time Britain must instead work closely with EU allies to get a diplomatic solution. There must be no repeat of the false arguments that took Britain to war in 2003."
