12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 2nd Apr 2007

Welcoming the news that NICE have decided to review a ruling which prevents patients from obtaining Velcade on the NHS in England, Fiona Hall MEP, who has campaigned for a change of policy on Velcade, said:

"I welcome the NICE decision to review the status of Velcade.

"It is only fair that all cancer sufferers be offered second-line treatment, and that no patient is discriminated against because their illness is a rarer one."
