FIONA WELCOMES BARROSO'S SPEECH TO CONFERENCE

Speaking ahead of a speech by the President of European Commission to Liberal Democrats at their party conference in Brighton, North East MEP, energy spokesperson Fiona Hall said:

"The UK is losing its way on carbon emissions and renewables but the wider EU is setting the pace.

"Barrosso launched the EU Energy Efficiency Action Plan personally last autumn and knows the urgency of tackling climate change.

Ms Hall is the energy spokesperson in the European Parliament and is in charge of the Parliament's report on the Action Plan.
