FIONA WELCOMES CORUS SSI DEAL

Commenting on the news that Corus and Thai firm SSI have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding for SSI to buy the Teesside Cast Products plant from Corus, Lib Dem North East MEP Fiona Hall said:

"This is fantastic news for Teesside and the North East.

"Today's deal shows that there is a future for steelmaking on Teesside with the area's highly skilled work-force a key ingredient in attracting new investors.

"I hope that the work to take the Memorandum of Understanding to a fully signed-off deal will be completed as soon as possible."
