Cllr Wendy Taylor, Lib Dem parliamentary spokesperson for Newcastle East, and Fiona at the Fairtrade Tea Dance in Newcastle
After attending the Fairtrade Tea Dance at Eldon Leisure in Newcastle, North East Lib Dem MEP Fiona Hall said:
"Events like this tea dance where young dancers put on an impressive show of their skills to entertain an audience enjoying Fairtrade tea are a great way to spread the word about how much of a difference Fairtade can make.
"I was interested to learn that tea growers in a Fairtrade scheme in India now get a pension when they are old, because of people here in the North East choosing to buy Fairtrade tea."
Lib Dem parliamentary spokesperson for Newcastle East, Cllr Wendy Taylor, who also attended the event, added:
"Newcastle has been a Fairtrade City since 2003 and it is great to see how active and full of new ideas the Fairtrade movement is around here.
"This was certainly a tea dance with a fair twist with some very skillful young dancers performing for a very worthwhile cause."
