North East Euro MP Fiona Hall is to see the work carried out by a Northumberland charitable trust to ensure its state-of-the-art café protects the environment.
Ms Hall is known as a passionate campaigner on all environment-related issues and this Thursday (April 30) will visit Cramlington's Café Azure to see the environmentally friendly features at the purpose-built restaurant.
The café, which was officially opened last year by BBC tv's The Hairy Bikers, was created by Azure Charitable Enterprises as part of Azure Garden Centre.
As part of Azure's on-going commitment to environmental responsibility, the Café encompasses many eco friendly features throughout its design, construction and operation and maintains the charity's green ethos in almost every possible way.
Ms Hall, who is known as "Ms Energy Efficiency" because of her relentless lobbying for more energy efficiency measures was delighted to take up the invitation to visit Café Azure.
"We were aware that Ms Hall was very passionate about the environment and we thought that she should come and see exactly what we've done at Café Azure," said Peter Elliott, Chief Executive of Azure Charitable Enterprises.
"We are delighted that she agreed to visit us and I'm sure she'll be really impressed."
Commenting ahead of her visit Fiona said:
"I was impressed to discover that environmental responsibility played a pivotal role in the decision to build Café Azure - from the installation of solar panels and sustainably sourced timber to the high levels of insulation used throughout the building.
"I now very much look forward to being shown all these eco friendly features in the Café which sets it apart from other similar enterprises."
