IT'S ABOUT TIME GOVT. GOT INTERESTED IN CARBON OFFSETTING

Fiona Hall has responded to Government announcements today that they are to set standards for carbon offsetting schemes.

The Liberal Democrat said:

"Public interest in carbon offsetting schemes has been way ahead of the Government's.

"Setting standards for these schemes is long overdue. It's about time the confusion is ended over what constitutes a valid offsetting scheme.

"I hope the Government has learnt a lesson and will be more proactive from now on on other practical actions to control climate change, such as phasing out inefficient technology like old-style light bulbs."
