Fiona Hall is publicising a European photo and drawing competition on sustainable energy solutions for young people in the North East.
The competition is split into two age groups: 7-11 year olds are being asked to compete as part of a school class, and to design a new scene for one of the ManagEnergy wesbite's games. It could be a new vehicle and background for the racing game or a new character and background for energy saving educational game. 12-16 year olds are being asked to enter photographs that show environmentally friendly ways to use energy. Prizes will include a digital camera, solar educational kits and T shirts.
The Lib Dem energy spokesperson says that the competition, being run by the European Commission challenges young artists to create images of sustainable energy use in their local environment. Fiona Hall said:
"Energy and climate change are top of the agenda these days and this is a fantastic opportunity for young artists to join in, with their own interpretations of how to use energy in a sustainable way.
"I hope that individuals and schools will put forward entries to the competition.
Details of how to enter can be found at www.managenergy.net/kidscorner
Closing date is 30 July 2007.
