Teenagers have a chance to increase their knowledge of European issues today when they meet Fiona Hall.
Sixth formers from St. Leonard's RCVA Comprehensive School, Durham City, will pose questions to Fiona Hall MEP to help celebrate Europe Day on Wednesday, May 9.
The event, in Durham County Council's Clayport Library, from 10.15 to 11.30am, helps to mark the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome.
As well as being able to question a decision maker in the European Parliament on issues ranging from the work of an MEP to what the European Union can do to tackle climate change, the students will be able to tap into the knowledge of visiting delegates from County Durham's twinned areas of Kreis Wesel in Germany and Jasz-Nagykun-Szolnok in Hungary.
The delegates are on a fact-finding visit to the county to see how cultural services are provided and will be at Clayport library for the event.
New information about Europe and European issues will also go on display in Clayport Library which is a designated European Public Information centre (EPIC) for the public.
As part of the day's celebrations, two ambassadors from EuropeAid, a humanitarian aid and development programme run by the European Commission, will visit Durham Community Business College and King James I Community Arts College.
Fiona Hall will also visit one of the schools.
