The European Parliament voted today, backing a key compromise on mobile phone roaming charges. Speaking on the vote, Fiona, who is the Liberal Democrat Industry Spokesperson said:
"Today we see a clear case of the practical benefits of the European Union. When people go on holiday abroad this summer they will see that instead of paying something like £2 pounds a minute simply for receiving a call, they will now only be charged around 16p a minute, not to mention the great reduction in the cost of making a call abroad. Action at an EU level has come to the rescue of consumers, who had been exploited and manipulated by the mobile phone companies for far too long."
