Fiona and Bob in the European Parliament
The North East's Euro-MP Fiona Hall has met Bob the Builder in the European Parliament to talk about ways that local people can save thousands of pounds on energy bills.
The Liberal Democrat said:
"Bob told me that we need a 'can-do' attitude to improving energy efficiency in buildings. Europe currently uses more than six million barrels of oil per day to heat homes and offices and could save up to £180 billion every year by saving energy.
"Forty per cent of the energy used in the North East is used in buildings. We need better insulated roofs, walls and windows and to build new homes which are more energy efficient. Not only would this create hundreds of jobs, it would save people thousands of pounds on heating bills."
