NORTH EAST EURO MP IN ETHIOPIA

Fiona Hall, Liberal Democrat MEP for the North East, is in Ethiopia as part of the European Parliament election observation delegation.
Ms Hall and eight other Members of Parliament were in Ethiopia to observe on election day itself. They visited a number of polling stations throughout the country.
Commenting after the visit, Ms Hall said:
'We received a warm welcome from the Ethiopian people and the general impression we received was positive. These elections were conducted in a peaceful manner and represent an important step forward in the democratisation process of Ethiopia and in raising respect and awareness of human rights.'
