Fiona Hall, Liberal Democrat Euro MP for the North East, has attended the relaunch of a Campaign for Parliamentary Reform.
Ms. Hall, who is a member of the campaign group, is joining the fight for higher standards of efficiency, accountability and transparency in the European Parliament.
Commenting on the campaign, Ms. Hall said:
'The Campaign for Parliament Reform brings together MEPs from all political backgrounds in a project of on-going reform of the European Parliament.
'Top priority in improving the efficiency of the European Parliament, is to put an end to having three separate work places. There should be a single seat, probably in Brussels. Moving between Brussels and Strasbourg each month costs an estimated 200 million Euros a year and is very disruptive. The Liberal Democrats have long been campaigning for a single European Parliament seat.
'I am also keen to see reform of the travel expenses system. The present scheme is simple but wasteful. I would like to see travel expenses reimbursed at cost rather than on a lump sum basis.
'I am looking forward to working with the Campaign for Parliament Reform in the future, and making some real and noticeable differences to the efficiency, accountability and transparency of the European Parliament.'
