Fiona Hall, Liberal Democrat MEP for the North East visited the Knauf Insulation Plant in Hartlepool today. She toured the plant, and met with Andrew Warren; the Director of the Association for the Conservation of Energy, Mark Andrews; the Deputy Managing Director of Knauf Insulation and Stuart Bell; Manager of the Hartlepool Plant.
Commenting after the visit, Andrew Warren said:
'All of us who are concerned with the issue of improving energy conservation and the environment are delighted that a senior political figure like Fiona Hall MEP is giving this issue such attention.'
Mark Andrews added:
'Visits like today mean a great deal to a plant with such an interesting history, and provide a huge morale boost to the workforce here in the North East. Fiona's visit was appreciated by all the members of staff in the Plant.'
Stuart Bell said:
'We were all extremely pleased with how the visit went today, and it is nice to see an MEP take the time to visit us here in Hartlepool.'
Fiona Hall MEP, who is leading for the Liberal Democrat group on a new piece of energy saving legislation to be approved by the European Parliament said:
'I was very pleased to have the opportunity to visit Knauf Insulation in Hartlepool, who employ 41 people and produce high quality insulation in a variety of user friendly formats.
'Good insulation makes houses more comfortable and convenient, saves money by reducing heating bills, and saves the planet by cutting CO2 emissions.
'I will be seeking to ensure that the energy saving legislation coming through the European Parliament stimulates the market for insulation and other energy saving products and services.'
